Was administered oath of office as (MLC) Member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on 3 July, 2007, after elected unopposed to Upper Chamber of state legislature. Responding to the choice to enter the house through the legislative council rather than the assembly election route, I have told media that "I have won several Assembly and Lok Sabha elections and could have easily been elected to the assembly this time also. But I chose to become MLC as I wish to concentrate on the development of all 403 assembly constituencies of the state rather than my constituency only... I am not Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had diverted all funds to develop his home area only...." |
